BAKERSFIELD— On Oct. 15, 2011, Bakersfield LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning) community is inviting all of Kern County to come out and have a good time.

Saturday marks the annual Bakersfield LGBTQ Pride Festival at Stramler Park from 3-9 p.m.

“Be gay for a day in Bakersfield in comfort,” said Whitney Weddell, chairman of the board for Bakersfield LGBTQ.

Although the event is a celebration for the LGBTQ community- family, friends and supporters are all welcome. The festival will provide a wonderful day for everyone in your family. It will include live entertainers, Kid Zones, DJs and vendors, who’ll sell food, beer and arts and crafts.

The idea behind Bakersfield Pride is for LGBTQ individuals to be surrounded by people who’ll accept you for who you are.

Don’t miss the drag queen show at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $7 online at http://www.bakersfieldpride.org/pride through their PayPal account or $10 at the door.

Be sure to check back at www.southkernsol.org for coverage of the event.
