The community is invited to attend the fourth Kern High School District Community Forum regarding student behavior and school climate in the district.

The district will present on 2018-2019 suspensions, involuntary transfers, voluntary transfers, expulsions, student discipline and referral data, current school climate survey results, the status of the District’s Training Plan and staff development, an overview of the District policies, procedures, and practices related to Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Multi-Tiered System of Supports, student behavior expectations, and discipline.

“As we approach our fourth community forum regarding school climate and student behavior in the Kern High School District, we want to acknowledge the collaborative efforts of our staff, students, parents and various community behavior support agencies,” said Brenda Lewis, KHSD’s Associate Superintendent of Instruction. “Our collective efforts are improving school climate and student discipline to ensure that all of our students graduate from our high schools prepared to succeed at the next level of learning and in life.”

The Community Forum will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in DeMello Hall at West High, 1200 New Stine Road.

The district will provide translation services at the forum and for each of the teleconferencing sites, which are Shafter, Arvin and Kern Valley high schools.
