The Ravi and Naina Patel Foundation donated $195,000 to the Dolores Huerta Foundation’s Vecinos Emergency Relief Program.

This donation to the Dolores Huerta will help Kern County families
impacted by COVID-19.

“This generous donation will help those in our community who are least likely to seek services because of their immigration status or residency,” said Camila Chavez, Executive Director of the Dolores Huerta Foundation.

Although the top two priorities are food insecurity and unemployment, the DHF’s program will serve as a community navigator and provide assistance for those affected by COVID-19 with applying for unemployment benefits; information testing and treatment; distribution of personal protective equipment; education on protecting oneself from the virus; tech equipment and assistance for students and parents to support distance learning; and
distribution of children’s books and school supplies.

Additionally, the program will identify COVID-19 affected low income and immigrant families who may need financial assistance. Resources and services will be provided to community members as well as referral protocols established for legal services and other specialized resources.

“Serving those in our community who are in most need during the COVID-19 pandemic addresses the RNP Foundation’s mission of increasing the overall well-being and happiness of everyone on our planet,” said Amar Patel.
