Health officials confirm 76 new COVID-19 cases

The Kern County Public Health Department confirmed Tuesday morning 76 new COVID-19 cases in Kern County.

Of the 2,880 cases in Kern County, 928 remain active, while 1,895 people have recovered.

As of Tuesday, 63 people who have tested positive for COVID-19 are being hospitalized. There have also been 47 COVID-19 related deaths in Kern County. County officials said Monday the majority of Kern’s death are from state-operated skilled nursing facilities located in Kern County.

The majority of Kern’s cases fall in the 18 to 49 age group, with a total of 1,593. The majority of Kern’s cases have also been identified as Hispanic. These cases make up 65.6 percent of the cases in Kern County.
