The Kern County Board of Supervisors approved Tuesday a $1 million grant for non-profit organizations in Kern County that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The grant is part of the Kern Recovers program, which provided assistance to small businesses in Kern County. The County distributed $30 million to 945 local small businesses across 255 industries, with the restaurant business receiving the largest portion of the funding (nearly 9.3 million).

Megan Person, Kern County’s Chief Communications Officer, said applications for non-profits will be available beginning Sept. 1, 2020. Applications will be available on KernCounty.com.

For all the small businesses who received funding from the Kern Recovers program, the County is now accepting loan forgiveness applications. Applications can be found on KernCounty.com.
