State public health confirms Kern’s ICU capacity is the lowest it’s been since pandemic began

As of Sunday, Kern County had 10 Intensive Care Unit beds available, the least amount available since the beginning of the pandemic in March, according to the California Department of Public Health.

CDPH reports there are 66 COVID-19 positive patients in the ICU in Kern’s hospitals, and 295 COVID-19 positive patients in Kern hospitals.

The Kern County Public Health Department also confirmed 988 new COVID-19 cases in Kern County, bringing the total to 51,612. Of these cases, 19,239 people have recovered.

Public health officials confirmed no new COVID-19 deaths. There have been 469 COVID-19 deaths in Kern County.
