Health officials confirm nearly 600 new cases of COVID-19

The Kern County Public Health Department confirmed Monday nearly 600 new cases of COVID-19 in Kern over the past three days.

The marks the highest number of cases Kern Public Health has confirmed over a span of a few days since the state lifted many COVID-19 restrictions and reopened on June 15. On June 30 — the last time Public Health updated its COVID-19 dashboard — health officials confirmed less than 200 cases over a span of three days.

On Monday, local health officials confirmed 594 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 113,810 cases in Kern. Officials also announced one new COVID-19 related death, bringing the total to 1,426 deaths.

Of the cases in Kern County, there have been 70 cases of the Alpha variant; 39 cases of the Delta variant; three cases of the Beta variant; and three cases of the gamma variant.
