Dr. Shapiro, Medical Director of Health Education and Wellness at AltaMed Health Services, will be talking about the myths and the reality of the COVID-19 vaccine and why it is important to get vaccinated. He has also launched a campaign called “Vacunate ya” in order to encourage Latino communities to get vaccinated and get the information they need to trust the vaccine.
“It’s a pleasure to work alongside others who share the same passion of building healthier communities by improving access to care on an international scale for vulnerable populations,” said Dr. Shapiro.
Getting vaccinated is one the safest ways to reduce the risk of getting infected with COVID-19 or dying from the infection and is the best way to have longer-lasting protection. COVID cases continue to rise everyday and we need to do our part not only to protect ourselves, but to also protect our loved ones.
Brynn Carrigan, Director of Kern County Public Health, said that vaccination remains the safest and fastest path to immunity for yourself and the entire community.
“Vaccination is the safest and most effective way to build immunity against COVID-19,” said Carrigan. “Ending this pandemic requires using all of the tools we have available, including practicing healthy habits, masking, distancing, and, most importantly, getting vaccinated. Get vaccinated for yourself, your family and our community.”
