Kern County Public Health will be hosting multiple Back-To-School vaccination clinics this week and next week at the Kern County Fairgrounds to help prepare families for the 2022 school year.
“On-time vaccination throughout childhood is essential because it helps provide immunity before children are exposed to potentially life-threatening diseases and is a requirement for students entering TK/Kindergarten and 7th grade,” Public Health stated in a press release.
The COVID-19 vaccine will not be a requirement for students in the upcoming school year.
The vaccination clinics will take place on the following dates:
- August 8 – 12 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- August 15 – 17 from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
- August 18 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- August 19 from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Public Health asks for that those attending a clinic only bring the children that will be getting vaccinated and to have their shot records on hand. Masks will be required.
Walk-ins will be accepted on a limited basis, so Public Health is encouraging families to make an appointment by calling 661-321-3000. The following will be accepted as payments: Medi-Cal, Kern Family Health Care, Health Net, cash, checks, credit cards, and most private insurances.
