Kern County awarded state grant to support immigrant entrepreneurs

Kern County has been awarded a grant funding, Local Immigrant Integration and Inclusion Grant (LIIIG), for immigrant entrepreneurs who want to start or expand their business through courses. 

The grant is from the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development and it is partnered with FIELD (Farmworker Institute Of Education and Leadership Development) and the Bakersfield College Launchpad.

This grant will be a free, two-year program and will provide essential businesses management skills, ranging from; start-up planning, business growth strategies, and sustainability practices. 

The courses sections will begin January 22, 2025 with morning and evening start times along with remote content available. 

Courses will be held at the Bakersfield College Launchpad located on 2100 Chester Ave.
