Over recent months, many have expressed their concerns and frustrations regarding the North Kern Cemetery in Delano on social media and in public.
According to the Rules and Regulations, North Kern Cemetery is to be mowed and trimmed every first Friday of each month where flowers and decorations will be removed and may be returned after 3 p.m. of that day.
However, this isn’t the case community members are reporting, that services are being conducted weekly not monthly forcing flowers and decorations for loved ones to be thrown away or misplaced completely. One user commented under a post shared by the social media account Delano Life, of items ( flowers, decorations, small fences, and pictures of loved ones) placed by one of the gates alerting that items will be thrown out, that “ No respect is being shown to those who have passed.”
Another user noted that people are stealing sentimental items left for their loved ones and that groundskeepers are not maintaining the cemetery to its standards.
The Board of Trustees meets at 4:15 p.m. on the second Thursday of the Month at the District Office, in which the public can address items that do not appear on the agenda and are within the district’s jurisdiction for up to (3)three minutes. Alternatively, if you wish to contact the District 4 Supervisor to address these concerns you can do so here District 4 Supervisor David Couch.
