“I feel social media has—I don’t want to say helped my mental health, but it has opened doors for me to make more connections and allowed me to voice my opinion. I feel that social media is your own platform to voice your own opinion, how you feel, and also make new connections while doing so. When people don’t agree with you, they don’t always have nice things to say. A lot of things you can compare what you believe in. So if your beliefs are not similar to someone else’s, then that can get in your own head, messing up your own thoughts and beliefs,” said Paikea Solei Cota.
“Overall, I feel social media has had a negative effect on me because of the way other people post on social media, like influencers, affecting other people’s mindsets in a way. It causes them to project it, and sometimes they project it onto me. Sometimes their attitude changes. They will be ruder and say negative things because they get influenced,” said Estrella Campos.

“Honestly, social media has helped me a lot. Honestly, there are both sides to it. A lot of people suffer from it because they don’t know how to correctly balance it. But I have a lot of friends that I don’t talk to a lot because we go to different schools, but I talk to them through social media. And to me, that’s pretty important because my best friend goes to another school, and I’m able to communicate with him through social media. There are a lot of communities out there that are really supportive of people, and I think it just takes you to find them to be able to have that positive impact on social media,” said Juan Pablo Lopez.
“I mean, social media has given me a way to communicate with my friends and hang out. It gives me a way to escape from my problems. So, I mean, it makes a pretty good impact, I would say. Not really any negative effects. I’ve never really had any problems,” Noha Cole.

“I would say social media reminds me of world events and makes me really stressed because every time I open a social media app, I see awful things that are happening around the world. I would want to say it’s okay to disconnect, even if it means you’re not super informed, because social media will really affect your mental health if you keep opening it up all the time,” said Andrea Guevara.
“I think social media has had too big of an effect on my mental health. You have to know when to get off social media and when it’s appropriate to be on social media. As long as you know your boundaries, I think you will do pretty well,” said Aaron Rothkopf.

“I’ve been on social media a lot lately. I think it has affected my mental health. I keep getting these posts about other people, and it gives me a negative mindset. Posts can affect the way you act and the way you feel. It can influence you a lot and influence your decisions. It has affected my mental health negatively lately. I think it’s based on the posts,” said Jonathan Reyes.
“Social media has affected my mental health because it can be overstimulating, and it can cause a lot of procrastination. I think a break or limited use of social media should be applied to everyday life. It could create a lot of negative thoughts, motives, and influence,” said Michel Cubillos.
