The city of Bakersfield is asking residents to share their views on what qualities they want to see in the next chief of police as longtime Chief Greg Terry prepares to retire this spring.
City Manager Christian Clegg will host two listening sessions on Tuesday, Dec. 9, to gather feedback from the community.
The first meeting is scheduled for noon in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 1501 Truxtun Ave. A second session will be held at 7 p.m. online.
“Come and share with me your thoughts and ideas about what I should be looking for in our next chief of police,” Clegg said in a video message announcing the sessions.
City officials said the feedback will help guide the search process and ensure the next chief reflects the needs and expectations of Bakersfield residents.
The sessions are open to the public.
