The community is welcome to join several upcoming meetings regarding the proposed sewer rate increases in Bakersfield. The first meeting will be on Thursday, January 9, at 6 p.m. in the City Hall Chambers. Community members will be able to ask questions and provide feedback.
There will be three additional meetings that the community can attend as well:
- 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13 at Southwest Library (8301 Ming Avenue)
- 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14 at Ridgeview High School (8501 Stine Road)
- 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15 at South High School (1101 Planz Road)
These meetings follow a series of conversations from last year in which community members voiced concerns about the increases. In October 2025, the Water Department Staff presented different proposals to gradually increase sewer rates to approximately $1,000 per month over five to seven years.
