Seventy-Five people from countries around the world gathered in Cal State Bakersfield’s Dore Theater Tuesday morning to complete the final step in becoming a naturalized citizen of the United States of America.
The Kern Complete Count Committee launched its community-based census education outreach efforts last week at the Martin Luther Kind Jr.
After working with city officials, committees and community partners for almost two years, the Bakersfield Sikh community continues its efforts in naming a park of a Sikh civil rights leader; however there has been a recent halt to the process.
In many rural communities, just getting kids to graduate from high school proves challenging.
But in McFarland, Bakersfield College and McFarland High School administrators are doubling down on efforts to ensure kids not only graduate with a high school diploma, but also take college courses and put them on a pathway to a degree.
The Kern County Voter Engagement Project is gearing up for another big push this school year, with two big events taking place next year — the Presidential election and 2020 Census.
