South Kern Sol is accepting applications from Bakersfield College students to partake in the CA 2020: Democracy Media Fellowship. The program is a partnership with Bakersfield College and focuses on providing Bakersfield College students hands-on media literacy training and helping amplify youth voice.
Up to five Bakersfield College students will be selected to partake in the six-month-long program, beginning this month through March 2019. The students will receive training in journalism by South Kern Sol staff, media leaders and have access to special events, networking events and more.
The deadline to submit an application is noon on Oct. 9. Click here to fill out an application.
The fellowship students, along with the partnership, will be announced at a free public forum, featuring Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Sonia Nazario. The event begins at 7 p.m. on Oct. 9 at Forum 101 at Bakersfield College, 1801 Panorama Drive.
