Community organizations will be hosting a candidate forum

The Dolores Huerta Foundation and a collaboration of other organizations are hosting a candidate forum 6:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m on  Wednesday, September 14 at Beale Library. The forum will also be livestreamed on zoom for those who can not attend.

The forum is a chance for community members to meet and learn more about those running city council and the board of supervisors. Lori Pesante, Civic engagement director of the Dolores Huerta Foundation said the forum will uplift community voices. 

“To ensure that community voices are heard by candidates seeking to represent them and to provide the information people need to be able to vote with confidence,” said Pesante about the purpose of the forum. 

Confirmed candidates for the forum include:

Ward 3 – Bakersfield City Council 

  • Boyd Binninger
  • Zeferino Barron
  • Lonnie Blain Daddow 

Ward 7 – Bakersfield City Council 

  • Manpreet Kaur 
  • Raj Gill

District 3 – Kern County Board of Supervisors

  • Brian Smith 

A rapid fire section will also take place to hear candidates position on measures J (supervisor term limits) and measure K (1% sales tax increase)
