Las Cafeteras to perform in Bakersfield in September

August 17, 2023 /

Get your dancing shoes and get ready to dance the night away at World Records on September 16, when Las Cafeteras come to Bakersfield.

Las Cafeteras promises to provide an evening filled with an explosion of upbeat cumbia, rock, and Afro-Mexican rhythms combined with powerful messages seeking to inspire a world where everyone belongs.

Pat Evans, the owner of World Records, shared he watches closely what artists theaters are bringing across the country, after he learned that one theater in Milwaukee he follows closely was hosting Las Cafeteras, he decided to reach out to them.

Evans shared that he’s super excited about this show, “it’s going to be fabulous,” he added.

Word Records holds 15 to 16 concerts per year and Pat shared that this is the first time World Records is bringing an artist who is not a recipient of an Emmy Award, but Evans feels confident given their recent traction with more theaters.

The event is for everyone and will include performances by California State University Bakersfield’s Ballet Folklorico and a puppet show from puppeteer Efren Perez.

The last time Las Cafeteras performed in Bakersfield was in May of 2019 as part of a partnership between South Kern Sol and Project Conexiones of Bakersfield College.

Tickets are $35 and can be purchased in person at World Records, 2815 F St., in Bakersfield from Wednesday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or by phone by calling 661-325-1982. Visit shopworldrecords.com for more information.
