The community of Lamont has been invited to participate in a public, in-person workshop on September 12 to provide input on the California Air Resources Board’s (CARB) future research on air quality, climate change, health, and sustainable communities.
This workshop, which will take place from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., is being held in partnership with the Central California Asthma Collaborative (CCAC) after Climate and Environmental Justice Director Gustavo Aguirre Jr was appointed by CARB to be part of CARB’s Future Research Priorities for Environmental Justice, a group of community leaders from across the state to help guide the plans for EJ research.
“One outcome for the community is making sure their concerns on what they believe is important should be prioritized at the state level, whether that is anything on air quality, air pollution, toxic air contaminants, and other public health concerns. The state has money to research, here is one way the community can influence that road map for the next 5 years,” commented Aguirre.
Discussions and ideas from these workshops will help shape potential research projects from 2025 through 2030.
CCAC will be raffling air purifiers during the event along with providing food and activities for children. The organization is encouraging people to register to attend so there’s enough food for everyone.
