After serving in an interim capacity, Eric Arias has officially been named President and CEO of United Way of Central and Eastern California by the organization’s Board.
United Way credits Arias with playing a key role in maintaining the organization’s stability and effective functioning despite the initial difficulties brought on by changes in leadership.
Prior to his role as Interim President and CO, Arias served as the Vice President of Program Development and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for United Way. Since 2020, Eric has also served the hard-working families in Southeast Bakersfield on the Bakersfield City Council. Ward 1 includes the culturally diverse communities of Greenfield, Casa Loma, Southgate and amenities like the Valley Plaza. After college, Eric put his education and experience to work by serving the community.
“I’m honored and incredibly excited to step into this new role as President & CEO of United Way of Central Eastern California, and I am also deeply humbled to be one of the youngest leaders to lead a United Way chapter anywhere in the world,” commented Arias.
Arias’s leadership has been credited not only with maintaining the efficiency of day-to-day operations but also with driving significant improvements in the organization’s effectiveness and enhancing the impact of its programs and services.
By bringing together donors, volunteers, advocates, and other stakeholders, United Way builds powerful, sustainable coalitions and partnerships that drive lasting impact.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to build on United Way’s longstanding commitment to community, and I look forward to working alongside our dedicated team, partners, and supporters to expand programs and services that uplift families across Kern, Inyo, Mono, and Northern San Bernardino Counties,” stated Arias. “Together, we’ll continue driving meaningful change — helping every community we serve thrive.”
According to the Board, during his time as interim leader, Arias demonstrated a clear vision, strategic foresight, and a strong commitment to measurable results—qualities that have contributed to the organization’s recent growth and impact.
The Board congratulated Arias on his official appointment and shared their optimism for the organization’s continued success under his direction.
