The next Arvin City Council meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, will cover the city’s financial limits, major budget revisions, and development projects coming forward this year. Mayor Olivia Calderon will focus on the budget, the major deficit, and the cuts that will need to be made. There will be a public hearing on the city budget for fiscal year 2026-27, allowing community members to voice their opinions.
The city is also looking to formally adopt the City Seal and Logo and to establish regulations for their use, custody, protection, and related insignia. Following the resolution, approval of the task authorization between Arvin and Veolia Water West Operating Services for the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) emergency SCADA upgrade project will take place. The implication and collection of Sewer Charges by Kern County Tax Collector for the fiscal year 2026-2027 in compliance with applicable provisions of Prop 218 and Arvin Municipal Code. Including discussing the increase and refusal of taxes by the Kern County Tax Collector for the fiscal year 2026-2027.
Following public hearings, from the public commenting on approval on the following items on the list is: Adopting the annual operating and Capital Budgets for the Fiscal year 2026-2027, the consideration of the status of vacancies, recruitment and retention efforts in accordance to Assembley Bill (AB) 2561, an approval of confirmation and ordening the annual Levy of assessments for fiscal year 2026-2027 for Landscaping and lighting maintenance for district one and two.
One of the public notices to be considered and adopted by the end of the meeting is to provide an improvement in the community through Landscape and Lighting maintenance in districts one and two.
