July 2, 2019 /

The Women’s March Kern County and the Rapid Response Network of Kern are partnering to host a Light for Liberty event next week.

Community members are invited join the organizations in taking a stand against the “inhumanity of current immigration practices,” said the Facebook event page.

“As Americans, we have a responsibility to ensure that our country treats children and all people with dignity and decency,” the Facebook page says. “Let you voice be heard.”

Communities across the nation will hold Vigil to End Human Detention Camps events, with a goal to raise awareness of the conditions faced by refugees, the Facebook page says.

Participants will march from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement office, located at 800 Truxtun Ave to the Liberty Bell, 1415 Truxtun Ave for a rally.

If you are unable to make the march, the organizations encourage community members to join them at the rally at 5 p.m. Community leaders will be at the rally to speak on the issue.

The groups will meet at the ICE office at 4:30 p.m. Friday, July 12.
