We asked Delano youth if they had a magic wand what is one thing they would change in their community and this is what they had to say:
Segio Millan
If I could change something in my community I would make a major decrease in inflation. I would make the price of gas and houses lower so that more people could afford it. With lowering these things there would be less poverty and there would be less homeless people.
Alexis Soto
If I had a magic wand and could hope for anything, I would hope for more community outreach programs/funds. Programs that actually make a difference for both kids and adults.
Ethan Ortiz
If I had a magic wand I would wish for a better economy. I want my community to be able to afford things like food and a house.
Leslie Valenzuela
If I had a magic wand one thing I would wish for my family and community members is good health. I have personally witnessed bad health, psychological and physical and I do not want someone to go through that or experience that in any way.
Janice Delgadillo
If I had a magic wand I would make sure everything in the city like schools, parks, and stores were in a good condition. I would make sure schools were safe and parks were safe. I would want parents to feel safe when they send their kids to school because school is supposed to be a safe place for us. Sometimes I want to go to the park with my friends, but my mom is hesitant about letting me go because it isn’t safe.
Emaly Martinez
If I had a magic wand I would wish that the community would stop dumping animals and instead help the animals and find a home or shelter for them.
Mariah Hernandez
I would want my community to be a safe place. I would like there to be less crime happening in my community. I just want everyone to be happy and safe.
Carlos Fregoso
If I had a magic wand and could change something in my community I would have a gym that is free so people can come work out and be healthy. There are some people who can’t afford to pay for a gym membership so I would want to give those people a place they can work out for free.
Angel Valdivia
I would wish for great health and safety for my community.
