‘Know Your Rights’ presentation on interactions with law enforcement and ICE to be held in Taft

January 24, 2024 /

The Rapid Response Network of Kern will host a “Know Your Rights” presentation on what to do when interacting with law enforcement and ICE officers, on February 8 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Taft Seventh-day Aventist Church.

“[This presentation is for] knowing your rights when interacting with law enforcement, specifically, immigration agents. It’s a response to concerns regarding ICE activities in that region of the county and reminding folks that they have rights and they should exercise those rights when interacting with any law enforcement… but specifically with ICE to protect the right to have a chance to talk to an attorney and hopefully prevent any kind of prolonged detention or even deportation,” ACLU Southern California’s Rosa Lopez said.

The Rapid Response Network of Kern collaborates with local organizations, community leaders, and advocates for immigrant rights to establish support and systemic change for immigrant communities.
